Japan schedules 2026 lake fireworks festivals in Gunma and Shiga

Two major lake fireworks festivals are slated for August 2026 in Japan. The Haruna Lake Fireworks Festival will be held on 7 August 2026 at Haruna Lake in Takasaki City, Gunma Prefecture. Organisers highlight a new "lake‑stage" viewing area, free live music performances and a lineup that includes underwater fireworks and large star mines.

The Biwa Lake Great Fireworks Festival is set for 6 August 2026 on the waters off Otsu City, Shiga Prefecture. Marking the event’s 40th anniversary, the program will feature a themed drone‑light show alongside traditional fireworks displays.

Both festivals are promoted by local tourism associations and are expected to draw visitors from across the region.
