Japan to launch My Number Card support for Android on October 20

Japan's Digital Agency has announced that My Number Card functionality will be available on Android devices starting October 20. Users will be able to add their My Number Card to Google Wallet on compatible Android smartphones.

While electronic certificate functions are already available, the October 20 update will introduce attribute verification capabilities. This allows users to perform identity, age, and address verification at participating stores and services using their smartphones. Service providers can facilitate this through the Digital Agency's face-to-face verification app.

Users will require Android devices that meet specific security standards, with detailed lists of compatible models expected to be released by October 20. This follows the launch of My Number Card support for iPhone, which began in June 2025.
