Japan U-20 women's team remains undefeated at FIFA World Cup

In the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup in Poland, Asian teams have completed their opening matches with varying results. Japan's U-20 women's team, known as the 'Young Nadeshiko', secured a 2-1 victory against New Zealand in their first match and followed it with a 2-2 draw against the United States in their second group stage fixture. Japan twice overcame deficits in the match against the U.S., with goals from Natsumi Tago and Kokoha Nakamura.

Other Asian participants also showed strong starts. North Korea defeated Portugal 2-0, and China secured a dominant 5-0 win over New Caledonia, featuring a hat-trick by Huang Jiaxin. South Korea was the only Asian team to avoid a win in the opening round, recording a 1-1 draw against France.

Despite China's significant victory, local media commentary has noted the historical performance gap between China and regional powerhouses Japan and North Korea, citing Japan's 2018 championship and North Korea's multiple titles as benchmarks for success in the tournament.
