Japan weather: Temperature drops, first snowfall, and Typhoon 27 approaching
Japan is experiencing significant weather shifts. In northern regions, strong cold air has moved in, resulting in the first observed snowfall of the season at Asahidake in Hokkaido. Temperatures are expected to drop sharply in Kanto and northern Japan; for instance, Tokyo's high is forecast at 22°C, a significant decrease from previous warm conditions.
While much of the country will see sunny intervals, Kanto may face cloudy skies and sudden showers. Northern Japan, particularly along the Sea of Japan, should prepare for thunderstorms and gusty winds. In Okinawa, weather varies by region, with some areas expecting cloudy skies or heavy rain accompanied by lightning due to pressure troughs.
Additionally, Typhoon 27 is developing in southern waters and is expected to move north toward the Ogasawara region with very strong intensity. Residents in the Ogasawara and Izu Islands are advised to watch for high waves, and Kanto may feel the typhoon's influence starting around Tuesday.
