Japanese cities host summer night markets in July and August 2026
The city of Ichikawa in Chiba Prefecture will hold the “Kikimachi Night Market Summer Festival 2026” on July 26 at Shinmei‑ji temple. The three‑year anniversary event runs from 16:00 to 20:00 and features traditional drumming, hula dancing, ukulele performances, food stalls, handmade‑goods booths, workshops and a kids' area.
In Tokyo’s Machida district, the Shibahiro Night Market is scheduled for three evenings from August 15‑17, also operating from 16:00 to 20:00. Admission is free, with vendors offering food, merchandise and games. Highlights include a ghost‑story performance, a lottery, the debut of the Romancecar Museum, and traditional festival attractions such as shooting games and a “Ninja Touch” challenge. Both events aim to draw families and local visitors to enjoy night‑time summer festivities.
