Japanese communities donate funds for Kumamoto earthquake relief

Various communities and organizations in Japan are providing financial aid to support recovery efforts following the Kumamoto earthquake.

In Nagahama, Shiga Prefecture, four companies from the Otsuka Sangyo Group donated a total of 4 million yen. The donation was presented at Nagahama City Hall and will be distributed to affected areas through the Japanese Red Cross Society. During the ceremony, Nagahama Mayor Nobuyoshi Asami noted the historical importance of mutual aid, referencing past regional disasters.

In Tsuyama, Okayama Prefecture, local children contributed to relief efforts. Approximately 78,000 yen was collected by Kokubunji Nursery School and an after-school children's club at Kawabe Elementary School. The funds, which were presented to Mayor Satoshi Mitsui, will also be sent to the disaster areas via the Okayama branch of the Japanese Red Cross Society.
