Japanese companies launch new office meal services to boost employee welfare

Japanese companies are expanding office-based meal services to enhance employee welfare and support health management.

Snap Foods Inc. has launched ‘MARTAN for Office’, a service delivering specialized mala tang (spicy soup) to corporate offices. The service provides vegetable-rich meal boxes designed by nutritionists to support employee health. In a pilot program at a listed IT company, 100 meals sold out within 15 minutes. The service allows companies to offer healthy lunch options with zero monthly fees, with employees paying per meal.

Simultaneously, Minna no Shashoku Co., Ltd. has announced a new pricing structure for its ‘Minna no Shashoku’ service, which delivers buffet-style meals from famous restaurants to offices. Starting September 30, 2026, the company will eliminate initial setup fees and monthly usage fees, regardless of how frequently the service is used. This move aims to make meal subsidies more accessible to a wider range of businesses, particularly following tax reforms in Japan that increased the non-taxable limit for employee meal benefits from 3,500 yen to 7,500 yen per month.
