Japanese food brands launch seasonal Otsukimi sweets

Japanese food retailers are launching seasonal products to celebrate the traditional Otsukimi (moon viewing) season.

Pizza-La has introduced the ‘Sakutto Tsukimi Pie,’ a dessert featuring Hokkaido red bean paste and mochi wrapped in crispy pastry. The chain is also offering a ‘Mochitto Wafu Quarter’ pizza, which includes four varieties: mentaiko, teriyaki, prosciutto, and kalbi, all incorporating mochi.

Meanwhile, cream puff specialist Beard Papa, operated by DAY TO LIFE, is re-releasing its popular ‘Tsukimi Shu’ starting September 1. The dessert features a combination of chewy mochi, crunchy cookie crust, and smooth custard. This year’s launch includes a collaboration with voice actor Yuki Sakakibara, who provides exclusive audio content via QR codes on the product packaging.
