Japanese food brands launch seasonal Otsukimi-themed products
Various Japanese food brands are releasing seasonal products themed around Otsukimi (moon viewing) for the autumn season.
Lotte has launched a limited-edition “Yukimi Daifuku Otsukimi Edition,” featuring yellow mochi designed to resemble the moon. The product includes a variety of packaging designs, including a rare version titled “Tsukimi Daifuku.” To celebrate, an experiential event titled “Yukimi Daifuku Minna de Otsukimi-kai” will be held at the Shinjuku Sumitomo Building’s Sankaku Hiroba from September 25 to 27. The event will feature a giant moon installation, customizable ice cream stations, mochi-pounding activities, and an LED lantern release.
Additionally, the ramen chain Raamen Kagetsu Arashi has introduced the “Arashi Genkotsu Ramen Stamina Tsukimi” at 211 locations. This seasonal dish features a pork bone soup enhanced with garlic, ginger, doubanjiang, and back fat, topped with a raw egg to mimic a golden moon. The menu also offers options for extra noodles or double meat portions.
