Japanese hospitality updates: New openings and top 100 rankings

Several Japanese hospitality establishments have announced recent updates or received industry recognition.

In Niigata Prefecture, the Yuzawa Grand Hotel has been selected for the 51st edition of the ‘Top 100 Hotels and Ryokans in Japan’. The hotel features various hot spring facilities, including bubble baths and rooms with semi-open-air baths. It also recently opened new barrier-free rooms to improve accessibility.

Similarly, Hotel Futaba in Echigo-Yuzawa has been named among the top 100 Japanese inns. The establishment is noted for its ‘Futaba no Yumeguri’ experience, which allows guests to visit four different large public baths, and its themed guest rooms inspired by local traditional textiles.

In Kumamoto Prefecture, TAOYA Aso, operated by Gensen Holdings, has launched new superior-type guest rooms and a new open-air bath as of October 1, 2026. The facility offers views of the Aso natural landscape and has introduced seasonal autumn and winter buffet menus featuring local ingredients.
