Japanese luxury hotels announce new culinary offerings
Major hotels in Japan are announcing new culinary offerings. Hotel New Otani Hakata has unveiled its 2026 New Year's 'Osechi' cuisine lineup. The selection includes a 'Premium Five-Tier Box' priced at 180,000 yen, featuring 58 items such as Kyushu Wagyu beef, shark fin, and lobster, prepared by Japanese, Western, and Chinese cuisine chefs.
In Tokyo, Grand Hyatt Tokyo's steakhouse, Oak Door, is introducing a new dining experience starting October 1, 2026. New Executive Chef Rafael Carrera Barragan, originally from Ecuador, will offer a limited course titled ‘Rafael’s First’. The menu aims to fuse South American flavors and techniques—such as empanadas and ceviche—with Japanese ingredients and professional grilling methods. The course is limited to 10 servings per day.
