Seasonal culinary and autumn events in Japan and Taiwan

Overview

Luxury hotels and dining establishments across Japan and Taiwan are expanding their seasonal culinary offerings for the autumn, Halloween, and upcoming New Year seasons.

In the Kanagawa Prefecture, Mercure Yokosuka’s Bistro Bourgogne will host an ‘Autumn Harvest Fair 2026,’ featuring half-buffet lunches centered on mushrooms, chestnuts, and ginkgo nuts. Hotel Kintetsu Universal City will launch a ‘Colorful Pop Halloween’ dinner buffet from September 1 to November 8, 2026. Other regional activities include Gunma Flower Park Plus’s ‘Autumn Harvest Fair’ and seasonal sweets buffets at Strings Hotel Nagoya and Hotel New Otani Osaka.

New autumn menus are increasingly focusing on wagyu beef and seasonal seafood. Hotel New Otani is introducing the ‘New Tokyo Tsukimi Burger’ at its SATSUKI locations in Tokyo and Osaka, featuring 100% black wagyu beef and a Nagasaki egg, alongside a ‘Yoshoku’ bowl with matsutake mushrooms and salmon. SHOGUN BURGER will release a ‘Mountain Mushroom Porcini Tsukimi Burger’ on September 1, 2026.

Furthering the focus on regional specialties, Art Hotel Niigata Ekimae is offering an ‘Autumn Harvest Western-style Kaiseki’ course through October 31, 2026, which highlights A5-rank Niigata Wagyu beef, snow-aged golden pork, and seafood from Niigata Port. In Tokyo, Hotel New Otani’s KATO’S DINING & BAR is serving a ‘Matsutake and Autumn Flavors Kaiseki’ menu until mid-November 2026, emphasizing the aroma of Matsutake mushrooms.

Expanding into the izakaya sector, Chimney Group will launch its ‘Autumn Premium Course’ at 250 locations nationwide from September 3 to November 11, 2026. Regional gourmet festivals are also being highlighted, including the Oriental Hotel Hiroshima’s autumn lunch fair and the Hotel Okura Prestige Taipei’s ‘Fukuoka Gourmet Festival’ through September 30. Looking ahead, The Westin Tokyo has opened reservations for its 2027 New Year ‘Osechi’ luxury food boxes.
