Japanese Parks Offer New Summer Activities and Facilities

Akita Prefectural Central Park in Akita City features six distinct zones, including a sports zone, field athletics area, youth‑education zone, family picnic lawn, and an airport‑front garden with views of the Sea of Japan and the Manga Peninsula. The park’s newly built dog run and expansive grassy lawn have drawn positive feedback from visitors.

In Machida, Tokyo, the city’s Yakushiike Park will host a summer “Cooling Campaign” from 15 August to 2 September, organized in partnership with the football club FC Machida Zelvia. The free event includes a stamp‑rally across cool‑spot locations, awarding participants original towels, as well as water‑gun shooting games, mist installations, and a raffle on 30 August. The festival aims to provide families with a refreshing outdoor experience ahead of the club’s match on 2 September at Machida GION Stadium.
