Japanese prefectures launch regional tourism and recovery campaigns
Various Japanese prefectures are launching initiatives to promote regional tourism and local products. During the Kyushu Block Tourism Information Exchange Meeting in Tokyo, representatives from seven Kyushu prefectures shared updates on local attractions and recovery efforts. Kumamoto Prefecture specifically emphasized support for reconstruction following the ‘Reiwa 8 Kumamoto Earthquake,’ highlighting events such as the Autumn Kumamoto Castle Festival and the Yatsushiro Deep Stamp Rally.
Other Kyushu updates include Fukuoka’s new commercial spots, Saga’s hosting of the Cosme International Forum, and Nagasaki’s upcoming music marathon. Miyazaki is opening a new exchange hub in Tokyo, while Kagoshima will host a shochu festival and historical exhibitions.
Separately, Fukui Prefecture has launched the ‘Tsunagaru Fukui Campaign’ to promote its charms along the Hokuriku and Tohoku Shinkansen lines. The campaign includes product fairs and pop-up stores across seven prefectures, including Saitama, Nagano, and Miyagi, running through March 2027. The initiative aims to showcase Fukui’s culinary specialties and dinosaur-themed attractions to drive future tourism to the region.
