Japanese railways announce October regional promotion events

Several Japanese railway companies are launching regional promotion events in October 2026 to encourage local tourism and family outings.

Omi Railway will host its ‘Gacha Fes’ on October 11. During this event, passengers can enjoy unlimited rides on Omi Railway trains for 100 yen all day. Additionally, children elementary school age and younger can ride Omi Bus, Kokoku Bus, and the Hachiman-yama Ropeway for free. The day will feature approximately 50 local events, including the ‘Yokaichi Yokai Market’ and the ‘Tarobo Challenge 2026’ sports festival.

Iga Railway has announced a special two-day promotion on October 24 and 25, 2026. During this period, fares for children elementary school age and younger will be free across the entire Iga Railway line between Iga-Ueno and Iga-Kobe stations. The promotion coincides with local festivities such as the Iga-tetsu Marche and the Ueno Tenjin Festival, a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage event.
