Japanese regions Fukuoka and Hyogo highlighted in travel trends

Fukuoka has entered the top 10 of Agoda’s repeater ranking for the first half of 2026, marking its first appearance in the list for Asia. Ranking 8th, Fukuoka's inclusion suggests growing interest from neighboring Asian markets outside the traditional Tokyo-Kyoto-Osaka tourism routes.

Separately, Expedia has named Hyogo as one of its top travel destinations for 2027 in its ‘Unpack ‘27’ report. Hyogo was the only Japanese prefecture selected for the global list, which featured 10 locations worldwide. The selection follows a 95% year-on-year increase in searches for the region. Key attractions cited include Himeji Castle, Arima Onsen, and Kobe beef, as well as the prefecture's accessibility from Osaka and Kyoto.
