Japanese tech firms develop AI voice solutions for gaming and business

Land Ho Co., Ltd. has developed a demo game titled ‘Voice-Operated Robot RECAIUS’ for the Nintendo Switch 2, utilizing Toshiba’s ‘RECAIUS’ communication AI middleware. The 3D action game allows players to control a giant robot using voice commands such as ‘punch’ or ‘kick’ instead of traditional controller inputs. The project was showcased at the CEDEC 2026 conference and serves as a foundation for Land Ho to launch voice interface development solutions for game publishers.

Separately, Shinka Co., Ltd. has announced the development of ‘Kaikura Denwabann,’ an AI-driven telephone service. Starting a proof-of-concept (PoC) in late September 2026 with a major automotive retailer, the service uses AI to handle customer calls when staff are unavailable. The AI can reference customer data from the ‘Kaikura’ platform to address callers by name and manage inquiries like appointment bookings or maintenance requests through natural dialogue.
