Japan's July port festivals draw crowds in Yokohama and Muroran

Yokohama's Elephant Nose Terrace will host the ZOU‑SUN‑MARCHE "港町夜市" from July 17 to 19, 2026. The three‑day event features summer craft stalls, an antique flea market, hands‑on workshops, a ghost‑story rakugo performance by Spring Breeze Shōsaku, and live music including ukulele‑guitar jazz and an organic sound band. Tickets cost ¥1,600 and include a choice of shaved ice.

In Hokkaido, Muroran's port festival is scheduled for July 24‑26, with a "total citizen dance" on July 25. Free dance workshops on traditional songs will be held on July 15‑16, open to individuals, companies, and community groups. Applications close on July 13. The festival aims to involve all residents in celebrating the city’s maritime heritage.
