Japan's NTT Docomo and PayPay roll out nationwide point rebate campaigns

NTT Docomo announced a "d払い" point‑rebate campaign that will run in eleven Japanese cities and towns starting in August 2026. Participants who pay with the d払い service can win point returns ranging from 1 % to 100 % of the transaction amount, with a maximum of 30 000 points per use and per campaign period. The campaign periods vary by location, with some running for only two days and others extending to late September.

PayPay launched a series of municipal cashless‑payment promotions for August 2026, covering dozens of prefectures and cities. The programmes offer point‑rebate rates of up to 30 % on purchases at participating PayPay merchants, with limits on per‑transaction and total points. Specific campaigns include a 20 % rebate in Iwate, a 10 % rebate in Chiba, and a 30 % rebate in Ōita, among others. Both initiatives aim to encourage cashless spending and increase usage of their respective digital payment platforms across Japan.
