Japan's summer attractions: Isezaki pottery exhibit and Yokohama Pokémon ice‑cream campaign

The Isezaki City Akahori History and Folklore Museum is running a themed exhibition called “Pottery Monster Gathering” until August 30, 2026. The display showcases pottery, haniwa and archaeological finds presented as cute monster characters, including the crow‑shaped haniwa mascot “Hani Wotori.” Visitors can join a quiz rally, receive stickers, and purchase acrylic key‑chain capsules.

In Yokohama’s Konan‑ku, Baskin‑Robbins Japan has launched a “31‑Poké‑Summer!” campaign from August 1 to August 31, 2026 to mark the 30th anniversary of the Pokémon franchise. The promotion features new ice‑cream flavours such as “Pikachu’s Volte‑Catcher – Pineapple Soda,” themed toppings, collectible stickers, and special packaging portraying iconic Pokémon like Pikachu, Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle.
