Japan's Summer Touring Radio Exercise Events Attract Thousands in Mie, Fukushima

Two localities in Japan hosted events of the nationwide "Summer Touring Radio Exercise – Everyone's Exercise Meeting" organized by the National Radio Exercise Federation, NHK and Kanpo Life Insurance.

In Konomi Town, Mie Prefecture, the town marked its 70th anniversary with a free exercise session on 27 August 2026 at the Konomi West Sports Ground. The event featured NHK AM radio’s live broadcast at 06:30 a.m., a theme of "Connect! Radio Exercise Circle," and complimentary souvenirs for participants.

In Iwaki City, Fukushima Prefecture, the event was held on 4 July at the Iwaki Heikyo Racecourse to celebrate the city’s 60th anniversary of municipal status. About 900 residents joined the morning exercise, following guidance from instructor Miku Okamoto, with the same NHK live broadcast. Both events aimed to promote health and community interaction across generations.
