Japan's T2 Autonomous Trucks Demonstrated in 680‑km Logistics Trial

A joint trial between Earth Pharma, SuzuYo and autonomous‑vehicle developer T2 successfully completed a 680 km round‑trip transport of the cleaning solution MONDAMIN between the company's Ibaraki warehouse and its Hyogo plant. The test combined conventional trucks for the first 120 km with T2’s level‑2 autonomous trucks covering the remaining 560 km, using dedicated transit hubs in Kanagawa and Kobe. The demonstration aims to pave the way for level‑4 trucks that could double daily haul capacity on the Kanto‑Kansai corridor.

Separately, Toray Industries began commercial operations using the same T2 level‑2 autonomous trucks to move petrochemical products from its Chiba plant to a warehouse in Osaka. The move is part of Toray’s broader effort to address driver shortages, lower empty‑run rates and cut CO2 emissions by up to 40 % through shared logistics and renewable diesel fuel.

Both initiatives highlight Japan’s push toward sustainable, driver‑assisted logistics using autonomous‑vehicle technology.
