Japoma water station adds 20,000 m³ of daily potable water to Douala
CAMWATER has initiated the partial technical commissioning of the Japoma drinking water production station extension and rehabilitation project. This milestone, marked by a site visit from Director General Dr. Blaise Moussa on September 26, 2026, adds an initial 20,000 m³ of potable water per day to the Douala network.
This capacity increase is the first phase of a progressive scale-up. The new plant is expected to eventually reach a daily production of 68,000 m³, contributing to a total site capacity of 123,000 m³/day. The additional water is intended to strengthen the East and North networks of Douala, improving service to numerous neighborhoods including Japoma, Yassa, Nyalla, the Bassa industrial zone, and Bonamoussadi, among others.
To ensure sustainable service, CAMWATER is prioritizing the verification of pipelines toward Bassa, securing energy supplies through backup generators, and managing the transfer of technical documentation and skills.
