Jared Verse addresses lack of sacks following Browns trade

Cleveland Browns defensive end Jared Verse has addressed his slow start to the season, noting he has yet to record a sack through two games following his trade from the Los Angeles Rams. Verse, who was acquired in exchange for Myles Garrett, emphasized that he is not focused on sack statistics, stating, “I don’t care about sacks. … That’s never been a testament to the way I play.” He noted that a sack is only one play out of 60 and expressed a desire to elevate his teammates.

Statistically, Verse has seen a dip in production compared to his previous seasons with the Rams, where he earned two Pro Bowl selections. Through two weeks and 46 pass-rush snaps, he has recorded a 4.3 percent pressure rate and zero sacks. While his style of play focuses on collapsing the pocket and driving offensive linemen back rather than pure speed, his current win rate and pressure metrics are at career lows. The trade remains a significant move for both franchises, as the Rams acquired Garrett while the Browns transitioned to Verse as a primary pass-rushing threat.
