Jarosław Kaczyński joins protests at the Constitutional Tribunal

Jarosław Kaczyński, leader of the Law and Justice (PiS) party, joined protesters outside the Constitutional Tribunal in Warsaw on Tuesday night. The demonstration was a response to government plans to introduce new judges, elected by the Sejm in March, into the tribunal building.

Protesters are opposing the inclusion of four out of six newly elected judges. The dispute centers on the validity of their oaths; while some were sworn in by President Karol Nawrocki, others performed the ceremony in the Sejm, which Tribunal President Bogdan Święczkowski has not recognized. Justice Minister Waldemar Żurek has announced an “odbudowa” (reconstruction) of the Tribunal within weeks to ensure all Sejm-elected judges can preside.

In separate political developments, PiS announced that Daniel Obajtek will play a significant role in preparing the party's economic program, a position previously held by Mateusz Morawiecki. Additionally, Kaczyński held a conference in Kielce, warning that the current government's policies could lead to a reduction in EU funds for the Świętokrzyskie region.
