Jasmina Selimović discusses AI at Istanbul Economic Forum
Jasmina Selimović, Governor of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina, participated in the Istanbul Economic Forum to discuss the role of artificial intelligence in the global economy. During a panel titled ‘Artificial Intelligence and the Global Economy: Opportunities and Risks’, discussions focused on using AI to enhance the analytical capacities of central banks, improve monetary policy transmission, and strengthen payment system supervision.
Selimović emphasized that while the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina recognizes the potential of AI for economic data analysis, risk assessment, and internal process efficiency, its application must be responsible, transparent, and secure. She stated that AI should serve as a support for experts and institutions in making higher-quality decisions, rather than acting as a replacement for human knowledge, experience, and judgment.
The panel also included representatives from the Monetary Authority of Hong Kong and the Central Bank of Uzbekistan. During her visit to Istanbul, Selimović held bilateral meetings with the governors of the central banks of Türkiye, Greece, and France to discuss economic trends and institutional cooperation.
