Jasmine Crockett declines to campaign for James Talarico
Representative Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) has stated she does not plan to campaign for James Talarico as he runs for the U.S. Senate against Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton. During an interview on CNN, Crockett indicated she intends to focus her efforts on “amplifying” other down-ballot candidates who may be getting overshadowed.
Crockett, who lost to Talarico by six points in a Democratic Senate primary earlier this year, has characterized that primary contest as a “racist race.” She also noted a lack of excitement among Black voters in Texas during the current election cycle.
Recent polling from Texas Public Opinion Research shows Talarico holding a six-point lead. While Ken Paxton leads among white voters and those over 55, Talarico maintains leads among Black, Latino, younger, and college-educated voters, as well as women. Democrats are seeking to win a Senate seat in Texas for the first time since 1988.
