Javier May announces 2.5 million tree planting campaign in Tabasco
Tabasco Governor Javier May Rodríguez has announced a state-wide reforestation campaign scheduled for October 4. The initiative aims to plant 2.5 million trees across 17 municipalities to combat climate change and promote collective labor.
During a visit to the ‘El Gran Sembrador’ Peasant Learning Community in Huimanguillo, May highlighted the economic impact of the state-level ‘Sembrando Vida’ program. The program invests 1.2 billion pesos annually to support 20,000 families, generating a monthly economic influx of approximately 100 million pesos. The Governor noted that the program has helped move 500,000 residents of Tabasco out of poverty.
Additionally, May announced plans to sign an agreement with Mexico City to facilitate the sale of program products through ‘Del Campo a la Ciudad’ markets, a move intended to eliminate intermediaries and increase producer income.
