Javier Milei leads 25 May Tedeum in Buenos Aires Cathedral without Vice President

President Javier Milei attended the traditional Tedeum ceremony at the Metropolitan Cathedral in Buenos Aires on 25 May, marking the anniversary of the May Revolution. He arrived with his full cabinet after a meeting at the government offices on Balcarce 50, and the procession was escorted by the Regiment of Mounted Grenadiers. The event concluded with a cabinet meeting at the Casa Rosada.

Vice President Victoria Villarruel was not invited to the ceremony, a decision confirmed by the vice‑president’s office. Archbishop Jorge García Cuerva delivered a homily calling for dialogue and condemning political polarization, urging leaders to pursue reconciliation for those suffering from unemployment and lack of opportunities.

The government is also facing reports of internal friction, with adviser Santiago Caputo reportedly at odds with Chamber of Deputies president Martín Menem, a dispute said to involve Milei’s sister Karina.
