Argentina seeks return of Formula 1 during FIA Congress

In Argentina, President Javier Milei is actively promoting the return of Formula 1 to the country. Speaking at the FIA American Congress in Buenos Aires, Milei emphasized that Argentina possesses the necessary tradition, institutional seriousness, and talent—specifically mentioning driver Franco Colapinto—to rejoin the global racing calendar. FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem expressed support for the initiative, noting that Argentina’s improving economic situation makes it a more viable candidate for major international events, though he noted that adding a race would require removing another from the schedule.

Domestically, the Argentine government is managing several political and economic developments. President Milei recently held a Cabinet meeting to reinforce the communication of his administration's economic achievements. His 2025 sworn declaration showed a 43% increase in personal assets, rising to approximately 295 million pesos. Meanwhile, the government is monitoring rising bank delinquency rates but has stated it will not intervene in the credit market. In the provinces, governors Axel Kicillof (Buenos Aires) and Sergio Ziliotto (La Pampa) have signed cooperation agreements to manage water resources and mitigate the effects of the El Niño phenomenon.

Other notable events include legal challenges against Milei following a speech at an ORT school, and legislative moves in Chaco to suspend primary elections (PASO).
