Jaxson Dart expected to undergo season-ending knee surgery

New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart is expected to undergo season-ending surgery on his left knee following an injury sustained during a Week 2 game against the Los Angeles Rams. Dart was injured on the opening drive when he was hit by Rams defenders Byron Young and Josaiah Stewart, causing his knee to bend awkwardly.

While initial reports suggested a potential MCL sprain that might only sideline him for several weeks, subsequent MRI results revealed more extensive damage. In addition to the medial collateral ligament (MCL), Dart has sustained damage to his posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) and his meniscus.

Giants head coach John Harbaugh confirmed that evaluations were ongoing but indicated the team would prepare for various possibilities. With Dart sidelined, veteran quarterback Jameis Winston is expected to take over the starting role. Winston saw limited action in relief during the Rams game, completing 11 of 27 passes for 111 yards and one interception.
