Jay-Z and Rick Rubin star in new HBO documentary series

The new eight-part HBO documentary series, ‘JAY-Z IN 8’, features rapper Jay-Z and producer Rick Rubin discussing the creative processes and stories behind the artist's three-decade career. Filmed over two days in Paris, the series marks Rubin's directorial debut. The project is executive produced by Jay-Z, Rubin, and Daniel Kaluuya, and produced by Tetragrammaton and HBO Documentary Films.

Rather than a traditional chronological biography, each episode is structured around specific themes and selected songs from Jay-Z's catalog. The series arrives during a milestone year for the artist, coinciding with the 30th anniversary of his debut album ‘Reasonable Doubt’ and the 25th anniversary of ‘The Blueprint’.

Early episodes explore tracks from albums such as ‘The Dynasty: Roc La Familia’, ‘The Blueprint 2’, and ‘The Black Album’, including collaborations with artists like Mary J. Blige and The Notorious B.I.G. The series is scheduled to conclude on October 9.
