Jáchal, Argentina sees major infrastructure upgrades and meat‑plant redevelopment

The municipal government of Jáchal in San Juan Province announced the revival of the historic Predio Matadero, converting the long‑idle former slaughterhouse into a modern food‑processing complex. The project, carried out with the private firm JSC, will install a high‑tech industrial kitchen and vacuum‑packaging lines, link local agricultural producers to the facility, and generate direct and indirect employment opportunities.

During the department’s 275th‑anniversary celebrations, Governor Marcelo Orrego inaugurated a series of public works in Jáchal, including the refurbishment and expansion of Police Station No. 21, paving of Eugenio Flores street, and the opening of new dialysis and oncology services at the local hospital. Additional improvements involved reinforcement work at the Villa Mercedes water‑treatment plant, aimed at enhancing water supply for surrounding communities. The initiatives are financed wholly with provincial funds and are presented as a boost to regional development and public services.
