JCI launches Sustainability Week 2026 in Suriname
Junior Chamber International (JCI) has launched Sustainability Week 2026 in Suriname, focusing on the theme “Building a Shared Future for All Life.” A primary objective of the initiative is to address water security through increased awareness and collaboration between government agencies, businesses, and local communities.
JCI leadership, including President Alejandra Castillo and National President Romario Sahai, met with Vice President Gregory Rusland to emphasize the importance of government involvement in sustainable water management policies.
In conjunction with these efforts, JCI partnered with the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Fisheries (LVV) to conduct sustainability training in Brokopondo. The training provided residents with practical skills in sustainable farming, including the use of modern irrigation systems, hydroponics, and crop rotation to combat the effects of climate change and ensure food security.
