JD Vance holds midterm rally in Iowa to support GOP candidates

Vice President JD Vance held a Republican midterm rally in Council Bluffs, Iowa, on Friday, targeting Democratic opponents and defending the Trump administration’s policies. During his speech at the Mid-America Center, Vance characterized Democrats as “lunatics” and attempted to nationalize the local elections by referencing candidates in Kansas, Texas, and New York.

Vance criticized Iowa gubernatorial candidate Rob Sand, labeling him a “career politician,” while campaigning alongside GOP nominee for governor Zach Lahn. In response to the visit, Democratic Senate nominee Josh Turek suggested the rally was an attempt by “billionaire bosses” to protect a narrow Senate majority.

Notably absent from the event was Republican U.S. Representative Ashley Hinson, the party’s candidate for the Senate. Her campaign stated she did not attend due to previously scheduled events.
