Jean Douglas-Webb to cycle 80 miles for AIDS fundraiser
Jean Douglas-Webb, an Abbotsford resident, will celebrate her 80th birthday by cycling 80 miles to raise funds for the Stephen Lewis Foundation’s Grandmothers to Grandmothers Campaign. The ride, part of the Solidarity Cycle, is scheduled to begin on September 13, National Grandparents Day.
The funds raised will support African grandmothers who are caring for millions of children orphaned by the AIDS crisis. The campaign provides resources such as healthcare access, grief counseling, and educational support. Douglas-Webb aims to secure 1,000 new donors contributing $20 each to reach a $20,000 goal, continuing a fundraising effort that has totaled over $54,000 since 2018.
