Canadian fundraising for African grandmothers

Overview

Fundraising efforts in Canada continue to support the Stephen Lewis Foundation’s Grandmothers Campaign, which provides aid to community-led organizations in Africa helping grandmothers care for children orphaned by HIV and AIDS.

In late August, seventy-three cyclists began the 20th annual five-week Victoria Grandmothers cycle tour across Greater Victoria. This event supports 98 organizations across 14 African countries.

Additionally, Abbotsford resident Jean Douglas-Webb has announced a solo 80-mile ride for the Solidarity Cycle to celebrate her 80th birthday. Scheduled to begin on National Grandparents Day, her goal is to secure 1,000 new donors to reach a $20,000 target, building on fundraising efforts that have exceeded $54,000 since 2018.
