Jean Nassif corruption scheme exposed in NSW Liberal Party

Police intercepted WhatsApp messages and phone calls that reveal fugitive property developer Jean Nassif tried to use his links with two brothers of former NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet to have Building Commissioner David Chandler removed and to damage the political career of former police minister David Elliott. The NSW Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) heard evidence of a $2 million payment to Liberal Party operatives, including Jeremy Greenwood, Christian Ellis and Charles Perrottet, to fund donations and secure control over party preselections in The Hills. Recordings show Nassif boasting about “banishing” the Baulkham Hills seat and plotting to influence cabinet reshuffles.

The eight‑week public inquiry, opened on Monday, will also examine possible breaches of public trust by Labor councillors linked to Nassif and allegations of blackmail and illegal surveillance. The investigation focuses on the intersection of Nassif’s development interests, the removal of David Chandler, and the involvement of senior Liberal figures and the Perrottet brothers.
