Jeep plans new Grand Cherokee models and high-performance SRT Trackhawk return

Jeep is developing new iterations of the Grand Cherokee, including high-performance models and updated platforms. One generation of the SUV is expected to utilize the Alfa Romeo Stelvio platform, which has been modified to accommodate both two-row and three-row configurations.

Future developments include the potential return of the Grand Cherokee SRT Trackhawk, likely featuring a revised supercharged 6.2-liter Hemi V-8 engine. This revival is part of a broader strategy by parent company Stellantis to bring back high-horsepower SRT models across its Dodge, Jeep, and Ram brands. The availability of these high-output V-8 engines follows changes to Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) standards, providing Stellantis with greater powertrain flexibility.

Engine options for the Grand Cherokee lineup have historically included various V-6 and V-8 configurations, as well as turbocharged four-cylinder engines. The high-performance Trackhawk model aims to compete with luxury performance SUVs from manufacturers such as Mercedes-AMG and BMW M.
