Jeep Grand Cherokee development and updates

Jeep is developing new iterations of the Grand Cherokee, utilizing modified platforms to accommodate both two-row and three-row configurations. Future developments include the potential return of the high-performance Grand Cherokee SRT Trackhawk, likely featuring a revised supercharged 6.2-liter Hemi V-8 engine as part of a broader Stellantis strategy to revive high-horsepower SRT models.

For the 2027 model year, Jeep is expanding the lineup with the introduction of the Upland trim. This more affordable option is designed for a rugged aesthetic, featuring 18-inch wheels with all-terrain tires, gray tow hooks, and a front fascia similar to the Trailhawk. While the Upland lacks the Trailhawk’s upgraded suspension and four-wheel-drive system, it includes a standard 324-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four engine. The two-row version of the Upland is expected to start at approximately $49,990.

The 2027 lineup also sees the return of the Trailhawk trim and technological upgrades, such as increasing the Laredo trim’s display from 8.4 inches to 10.1 inches. Engine options will continue to include the 3.6-liter V6 for certain models. Off-road capabilities remain a priority, with specific configurations offering nearly 29 centimeters of ground clearance and approximately 2,800 kg of towing capacity.
