Jeep recalls over one million vehicles due to fire risk

FCA US is recalling over one million Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator vehicles, produced between 2021 and 2025, due to an electrical defect that poses a fire risk. The issue involves the wiring of the electric-hydraulic power steering pump, which can overheat and cause fires even when the vehicle is turned off.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has linked the defect to 51 reported fires and one potential injury. As a precaution, owners of affected models have been advised to park their vehicles outdoors, away from buildings and other cars, until repairs are completed.

The recall follows a legal action by a family in Illinois whose 2022 Jeep Gladiator caught fire in front of their home, causing significant damage to the vehicle and part of their residence. The family alleges the fire was caused by the electrical defect.
