Jeff Bezos eyes up to 30% stake in Liverpool FC
Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has been approached to join a consortium seeking a minority share in English Premier League club Liverpool FC. The group, led by British‑Indian investor Amit Bhatia, aims to purchase roughly 30% of the club, a transaction that would value Liverpool at more than $6 billion. Current owners Fenway Sports Group (FSG), the U.S.‑based company that bought the club in 2010, have indicated openness to selling a minority stake while retaining majority control.
Sources say the consortium’s provisional offer is about £1.35 billion (around $1.8 billion), with the potential deal valued at roughly £4.5 billion for the whole club. Bezos has previously explored ownership of NFL franchises but has not yet confirmed participation. If finalized, the investment would add another U.S. billionaire to the growing list of foreign owners in Premier League football.
