Jeff Cobb reflects on his WWE career and multiple rejected offers
Professional wrestler Jeff Cobb, who performed in WWE as ‘JC Mateo’, has reflected on his brief tenure with the company following his release in May 2026. In a recent interview with Denise Salcedo, Cobb revealed that he turned down WWE offers on four separate occasions before finally accepting a deal in early 2025.
Cobb cited various reasons for his initial refusals, including a reluctance to relocate to Florida and his commitment to New Japan Pro-Wrestling. He noted that his decision to finally join was influenced by a FaceTime call from Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque, which convinced him to ‘take a leap of faith’.
Addressing his time with the MFTs faction, Cobb acknowledged fan skepticism regarding his booking. He noted that while WWE portrayed him as Tongan, he is actually Hawaiian, but stated, ‘That’s what they hired me. They wanted me for that, alright cool, I’ll do my best with it.’ Despite the short duration of his run, Cobb expressed that he cherishes the experiences and friendships made during his time with the organization.
