Jeffrey Epstein Received $25 Million for Assisting Edmond de Rothschild’s DOJ Settlement
Federal documents reveal that convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein was paid a $25 million fee for work connected to Swiss private‑bank Edmond de Rothschild’s settlement with the U.S. Justice Department. The payment, routed through Southern Trust Company Inc., was tied to the bank’s Dec. 18, 2015 settlement in which Edmond de Rothschild (Suisse) SA and Edmond de Rothschild (Lugano) SA agreed to pay more than $45 million to resolve a DOJ investigation of undeclared U.S.–related accounts.
Correspondence shows that Ariane de Rothschild, head of the family‑owned bank, met with Epstein multiple times and exchanged dozens of emails over roughly five years before his 2019 arrest. The bank described Epstein as a “business acquaintance” and said Ariane de Rothschild had no knowledge of his crimes, condemning his behavior. No criminal wrongdoing by the bank or Ariane de Rothschild was identified in the files.
