Jeju to host inaugural International Ecology Forum in November

The first Jeju International Ecology Forum is scheduled to take place from November 5 to 7 at the Jeju Stone Park. Under the theme ‘Narratives of Nature and Reconstruction of Society,’ the event aims to explore ways for humans and nature to coexist sustainably.

Hosted by Jeju Province, the forum will feature approximately 150 participants from government, academia, business, and civil society sectors. Discussions will cover topics including climate crisis response, biodiversity conservation in island regions, ESG management, and the rights of nature. Key speakers include Kang Kum-sil, Professor Emeritus Yoon Yong-taek, and Yale University Professor Mary Evelyn Tucker, who will participate via video.

In conjunction with the forum, a ‘Jeju Environment Hackathon’ will be held from November 3 to 4. Organized by Seoul National University, this program encourages youth to use AI and data to propose policy and public service ideas for solving environmental issues. Winning teams will be recognized during the forum's opening ceremony.
