Jeju regional forums and academic events

Overview

Jeju is hosting several specialized forums focused on ecology and historical preservation. The inaugural Jeju International Ecology Forum, themed ‘Narratives of Nature and Reconstruction of Society,’ is scheduled for November 5 to 7 at Jeju Stone Park. This event brings together approximately 150 participants from various sectors to discuss biodiversity, climate crisis response, and ESG management. A related ‘Jeju Environment Hackathon’ will precede the forum to encourage youth-led AI and data solutions for environmental policy.

Separately, the Jeju 4.3 Peace Foundation is organizing the 16th Jeju 4.3 Peace Forum. This session focuses on the Jeju 4.3 records following their inscription as a UNESCO Memory of the World, aiming to explore global sharing and international solidarity. Alongside this, the Jeju 4.3 Research Institute is launching the Next Generation 4.3 Researcher Forum to transition research achievements to new scholars and expand academic discourse regarding state violence and local community experiences.
