Jember Regent addresses fuel shortages and budget planning

Jember Regent Muhammad Fawait is addressing fuel shortages and long queues at gas stations in Jember, East Java. Following recent distribution disruptions, Fawait has inspected local stations and distributed food and drinks to motorists waiting in long lines.

To resolve the issue long-term, Fawait is encouraging investors to build more gas stations (SPBU) across districts that currently lack them. He also plans to meet with Pertamina leadership in Jakarta to discuss diversifying fuel supply routes. Currently, Jember relies heavily on supplies from Banyuwangi; Fawait suggests establishing alternative supply lines from Surabaya or Malang to prevent future delays caused by traffic or infrastructure issues.

Separately, the Jember government and local DPRD have reached an agreement on the 2027 KUA-PPAS budget draft. The 2027 regional budget projects revenues of approximately Rp4.5 trillion against estimated expenditures of Rp5.5 trillion, with regional financing projected at roughly Rp900 billion.
