Jember, Indonesia launches 2026 festivals showcasing cigars and fashion

The JKCI Festival 2026 in Jember ran from 31 July to 1 August, promoting the region’s tobacco and cigar industry through exhibitions, cultural performances and a showcase of local UMKM. The event attracted participants from 11 countries, and Regent Muhammad Fawait highlighted the shift toward downstream value‑addition for tobacco growers.

The Jember Fashion Carnaval 2026 took place on 25–26 July, featuring a construction‑themed art‑wear show co‑produced by Semen Gresik and designer Bubah Alfian. Models and actual construction workers walked the runway, accompanied by musical performances. The carnival, under the theme HEAL (Humanity, Earth and Life), was praised by the tourism minister for its multiplier effect on hospitality, transport and local crafts.
