Jember Fashion Carnaval 2026
Overview
The Jember Fashion Carnaval (JFC) ran from 24 – 26 July 2026 at Alun‑Alun Central Park in Jember, East Java, under the “HEAL: Humanity, Earth, Life” theme. Organisers added a one‑hour theatrical segment, “Dewi Bumi,” featuring a Gaia character, modern visual technology, kinetic costume installations and contemporary choreography. The three‑day parade covered a 3.6 km route ending at GOR PKPSO Kaliwates and opened with a Grand Carnival that highlighted the “Dewi Bumi” performance.
The opening day included a World Kids Carnival, a Pets Carnival, and a student‑led recycled‑material costume workshop involving fifteen Sekolah Rakyat Terintegrasi 6 pupils. Government officials—including Tourism Minister Widiyanti Putri Wardhana, Deputy Governor Emil Dardak, and Presidential Tourism Envoy Zita Anjani—praised the event as an internationally‑standard cultural tourism product, calling Jember “the kiblat of carnivals in Indonesia.”
Thousands of domestic and overseas visitors attended, creating a multiplier effect for local businesses. The previous edition attracted 557,509 domestic and 284 international tourists, involved over 100 UMKM participants and generated roughly Rp 60.2 billion in economic turnover. Plans to intensify Jember‑Bali flights and improve transport links were reiterated.
A construction‑themed art‑wear show, co‑produced by Semen Gresik and designer Bubah Alfian, featured models and actual construction workers walking the runway, accompanied by musical performances. The show was part of the broader JKCI Festival 2026, which promoted the region’s tobacco and cigar industry and highlighted downstream value‑addition for local growers.
