Blackpink member Jennie will issue her solo single “Less Than a Lover” on July 24 at 13:00 KST (1 p.m. EDT). The project, announced with a teaser poster on July 20, is written, composed, produced and directed by Jennie herself under her independent label OA Entertainment (Odd Atelier). The track features a lo‑fi guitar texture, vintage electric‑keyboard tones and a more intimate vocal style, marking a shift from her earlier dance‑pop releases.

Jennie previewed the song at several major music festivals this summer, including the Governors Ball in New York, Roskilde in Denmark, Open’er in Poland and Mad Cool in Spain, as well as upcoming appearances at Lollapalooza Chicago and Japan’s Summer Sonic. The live performances generated viral clips on TikTok and Instagram, heightening fan demand for the official digital launch. The single follows her earlier solo efforts “Mantra” (Oct 2024) and the “Ruby” album (Mar 2025) and continues her trend of taking full creative control over her releases.

The release is expected to chart globally, with Jennie already holding a Billboard Hot 100 position (#5) thanks to her recent “Dracula (JENNIE Remix)” collaboration.
